Connect (コネクト Konekuto) is the opening theme of Puella Magi Madoka Magica which is a Japanese anime television series produced by Shaft and Aniplex. The series is directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and written by Gen Urobuchi with original character designs by Ume Aoki, character design adaptation by Takahiro Kishida and music by Yuki Kajiura. The first ten episodes aired in Japan on TBS and MBS between January and March 2011, while the final two episodes were delayed until April 2011 due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. And Connect is sung by ClariS which is a Japanese pop music duo and idol unit consisting of high school girls Clara and Alice from Hokkaido. A music video was produced, directed by Takumi Shiga. The single peaked at No. 5 on Japans weekly Oricon singles chart, and was later awarded a Gold Disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for having exceeded 100,000 copies shipped in a single year. And the song debuted at No. 5 on Oricons weekly singles chart, and later awarded the Gold Disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) in January 2012 for having exceeded 100,000 copies shipped in a single year.
